Hi guys.
A splendid new year to you all.
Really, tis His grace that has brought us thus far.
So today, I will be sharing on how I used to think that after fasting comes rest; apparently I hadn’t dwelt enough on
Matthew 4:1-3 (MSG)
“Next Jesus was taken into the wild by the Spirit for the Test. The Devil was ready to give it. Jesus prepared for the
Test by fasting forty days and forty nights. That left him, of course, in a state of extreme hunger, which the Devil
took advantage of in the first test: Since you are God’s Son, speak the word that will turn these stones into loaves of
bread.”
The Spirit knew what was coming and therefore led Jesus into the wilderness in preparation; and so the fast was to
prepare Him for the temptation by the devil. How many times do we question God when going through a desert
experience asking, ‘O Lord, why me? I have served You all these years, I have never done this unlike that
sinner……’ and on and on and on like the prodigal son. So I am tempted to ask like Job did his wife in Job 2:10,
“Shall we receive good from the Lord and not evil?” Also who are the trials then fit for? (Just saying).
Thankfully, we are no longer ignorant of the devices of the evil one (2 Corinthians 2:11). Therefore we need to
prepare for the aftermath of the fasting/wilderness experience. It is often said, ‘new levels, new devils, right?’ For
even when we do encounter fierce attacks, we can draw strength in the assurance that the Name of our God is a
strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe (Proverbs 18:10).
Like I earlier stated, tests on the heel of fasting and prayers were foreign to me until I became a victim of it more
than once. Consequently, I believe such attacks following spiritual victories (as well as its corresponding devastation
to the Kingdom of darkness) should be envisaged and even prepared for.
Thing is, it could come in all forms; the Word of God in your mouth and heart will be tested. May He give us the
grace to hold on to His Truth no matter how abysmal the storm.
Some think that the way to play safe is by being spiritually inactive, my heart bleeds for them. If only it were that
easy.
May God engrace us to pay the price now.
We shall not be prey for the enemy.
We receive strength to secure our destinies.
We shall never end as casualties.
Amen.
I decree that this year shall leave an indelible mark for good in our lives.
If at the end of the day all you have is God, then you have more than enough.
