BE STILL

Sometimes, life throws you snowballs; and while you are trying to duck, fire from nowhere attempts to burn you up; while you are trying to escape that, trials whip your back side; and while you turn to tackle that, the storms of life so shake you that it takes only the grace of God to help you handle them. Someone said,”This life no balance at all.” That got me laughing. I guess people feel so because bad things seem to happen to good people and the people that are actually bad, seem to have life going very well for them.

If you take time to talk to people, I mean really talk to them and hear their stories; you’ll marvel at what some of them have been through. It’s unbelievable! The tricky part though, is that most people don’t look like what they’ve been through. Thank God, for really, ”this treasure is in earthen vessels.”

Often times, we go through stuff that seem too much for us and we are thrown into a state of chaos, and what’s worse? God seems to be silent when we need Him most. Storms of life are real mehn; some are so fierce, they seem to shake our very roots. In such times, our lives are turned up-side-down and we are confused, scared and anxious of what might become of us. We feel so helpless because it seems like our end has come, but what does God expect of His people in such a time as this? What is the mind of God concerning this matter?

“Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!”      Psalm 46:10 (AMP)

Hmmmm…

‘Let be?’ ‘Be still?’ As in, just stay like that and do nothing? Why? How?

After knowing that He is God, then what? What will we see if and when we eventually manage to be still?

2 Chronicles 20:17

KJV – “Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.”

MSG – “You won’t have to lift a hand in this battle; just stand firm, Judah and Jerusalem, and watch GOD’s saving work for you take shape. Don’t be afraid, don’t waver. March out boldly tomorrow—GOD is with you.”

Wow!! Really?  I don’t know about y’all, but I like this. I don’t need to get my hands messy because God has got things covered. It’s so comforting to know that in holding my peace, I’m giving God room to fight for me. And when I do, I shall see His saving power.

Exodus 14:14 “The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”   (KJV)

It’s very tempting to want to figure things out and do everything yourself, but you don’t have to. No need to burn yourself out, you can cast all you cares and anxiety on Him for He cares for you.

You first have to trust Him though, for without trust, there can be no standing aside peacefully.

Set yourself aside and know that HE is GOD. Then shall you see His Salvation. This life can be too hard to want to go through by your power.

The best thing to do when you are tempted to act out in fear and desperation and anxiety, is to do nothing. Really! In fact, that’s the worst time to make a life-altering decision. #true talk#

Commit everything into God’s hand and try to get some rest; in the end, things will find a way of working out.

Joyce Meyer said, “Life is not fair, but God is just.”

My Assurances;

  • God is fair.
  • God can never lie.
  • God loves me unconditionally.
  • God is intricately involved in my life and so, nothing just happens to me by accident. Things happen intentionally.
  • God is good.
  • God will not break His promises to me.
  • God says exactly what He means and means exactly what He says. I can always take that to the bank!
  • God has got my back; always.

I recently saw a write up that goes – “Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear you path.”

I quite agree. Storms I have weathered through anchoring on the lifeboat provided by Christ have made me stronger and better and have given me opportunities to grow in ways I wouldn’t have otherwise, and so, I am grateful for them.

Beautiful reminder;

1 Cor 10:13 (NLT) – “But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.”

So the next time that storm hits, calm down, there is a way of escape.

Take it!

P.S; After my quiet time on Sunday, I asked God what He wanted me to tell His people and He said to me, ‘’Tell them that I am good.’’

And so, to those who don’t know, I want you to know today, that ‘God is good.’ To those who might have forgotten, let the truth that ‘God is good,’ warm your lovely hearts and keep you going.

Shalom.

If at the end of the day all you have is God, then you have more than enough.
