KEEP ASKING

Have you ever had someone ask you for something so many times that you get so fed up and give in to his/her request just to have your peace back? Well I have, and at that moment, it wasn’t funny; it was plain annoying! Especially when I didn’t initially want to give that particular thing. My lastie did this to me a couple of times when he was much younger. He would so disturb me to give him whatever it was he was asking for that I’ll get so tired and let him have it abeg. So that someone will not come and stress me out for free. Pretty much reminds me of the following Scriptures;

‘’Then, teaching them more about prayer he used this illustration: “Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You would shout up to him, ‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit and I’ve nothing to give him to eat.’ He would call down from his bedroom, ‘Please don’t ask me to get up. The door is locked for the night and we are all in bed. I just can’t help you this time.’

“But I’ll tell you this—though he won’t do it as a friend, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you everything you want—just because of your persistence. And so it is with prayer—keep on asking and you will keep on getting; keep on looking and you will keep on finding; knock and the door will be opened. Everyone who asks, receives; all who seek, find; and the door is opened to everyone who knocks.’’             Luke 11:5-10 (The Living Bible)

‘’One day Jesus told his disciples a story to illustrate their need for constant prayer and to show them that they must keep praying until the answer comes.

“There was a city judge,” he said, “a very godless man who had great contempt for everyone. A widow of that city came to him frequently to appeal for justice against a man who had harmed her. The judge ignored her for a while, but eventually she got on his nerves.

“‘I fear neither God nor man,’ he said to himself, ‘but this woman bothers me. I’m going to see that she gets justice, for she is wearing me out with her constant coming!’”

Then the Lord said, “If even an evil judge can be worn down like that, don’t you think that God will surely give justice to his people who plead with him day and night? Yes! He will answer them quickly! But the question is: When I, the Messiah, return, how many will I find who have faith and are praying?”           Luke 18:1-8 (The Living Bible)

In the story just above, it is important to note that the said judge was godless; he feared neither God nor man and had great contempt for everyone. Yet just because the widow kept bothering him, he gave in to her request lest she ‘wear him out by her continual coming.’

My favorite part is, “The judge ignored her for a while, but eventually she got on his nerves.”

I particularly like this one. I learnt that in this life, if you want something bad enough and go for it, you’ll eventually get it. Just be patient. Many people have such big dreams that they think it will never come to pass. If only they knew and believed; that with God, nothing is impossible. If your mind can conceive it, then your hands can achieve it. You just need to want it hard enough and be persistent in doing what needs to be done, no matter how long it seems to be taking. Some others, simply do not ask or even make an attempt to ask from people because in their mind, the answer will be ‘no.’ If only they knew that their breakthrough was just a question away.

Keep pride and embarrassment away, go for it.

P.S-Thinking back now, I recall having used this principle of continual asking on my earthly father and it yielded results, how much more my Heavenly Father?

I have also applied it in my life and have proof to the effect that it works. Are you willing to pay the price of persistence for the prize of achievement?

Don’t be ashamed to;

Ask people.

Demand from life.

Expect from God.

Remember that; nothing is impossible with God.

If you want it bad enough and are persistent, you will get it.

It isn’t enough to have faith, we should keep asking.

If at the end of the day all you have is God, then you have more than enough.
