BEING UNDENIABLY GOOD

Hey guys, how are we all doing?

Today I am gonna be addressing the person that worked on changing the nets in my family house and people like him. Each time I see this work ba, I get upset, so much so that I ask in my mind, ‘And this man really expects us to recommend him to someone else or call him back for another contract? How na?’

Guys, if you know not what a shoddy work is, you need not look any longer; come and see a classical example of one. The work is so horrible that the net, window screen and fixtures are all faulty. I keep wondering what my people at home were thinking when they paid this man. No one should be paid in full (and I am being gracious insinuating he be paid at all) for such bad work.

I don’t understand how someone who claims to be an expert is called, shown what needs to be done, gives his quotation and then does whatever he likes, and worst of all, gets paid some good amount of money! Haba! No na.

The Bible says to do diligently whatsoever one findeth to do (See Colossians 3:23). I truly believe one doesn’t need to study a professional course to be successful in the work of his/her hands. Skill & talent, hard work, diligence, patience and adequate preparation are key ingredients though. Pay the price to develop yourself; apart from growing in your chosen line of work and the monetary reward, you also get maximum work satisfaction; there is a kind of fulfillment that comes with doing a great job.

Our plumber on the other hand, does a neat and excellent job. He is quite knowledgeable. I haven’t been able to ascertain his honesty level though, but if it’s a question of whether he’s good at his job, than the answer is a resounding yes! Our carpenter is honest and does a great job too.

Even as we believe God to enable us stand before kings and not mere men (See Proverbs 22:29), let us work on ourselves to be ready for such opportunities; we could read books, attend trainings and practice a lot. The key is not to rush the process and expect people to pay for your less than average work, the key is to pay the price now and emerge so good that people would have to stand in line just to get your hands on their work whatever the cost (like I often say).

While working on yourself, wisdom demands you politely decline some jobs.

If you can’t be better or the best, at least be undeniably good.

Peace.

If at the end of the day all you have is God, then you have more than enough.
